Not With a Bang But a Whimper- further investigations (9 works from 2014-2021)
This series of works began in 2014 and was completed in 2021. This work expands on an imagined world turned upside down by perversion, destruction, and violence. Veiled by humor and play, this dark, subversive work invites the viewer to investigate meaning all while questioning their own discomfort.
The nine, 24"x 24" panels can be viewed together in a grid, or individually, as separate, fragmented works. Each panel developed as a reaction to the previous work. This is evident where the panels meet. Various elements pull from one work into another, acting as a gateway of sorts into the surrounding works.
The works are inspired by an array of references including 15th Century Grotesques, T.S Elliott's poem, "Hollow Men", children's touch and feel books like "Pat the Bunny", and side-scrolling platform video games like "Donkey Kong".
